MuleSoft Intelligent Document Processing is the document lane into agents: classify, extract, validate, integrate, then a named reviewer. Files are not tools until a person can audit the fields they produced.
Context still comes first. The store that receives extracted fields is the same governed store on data . The action that writes those fields still goes through the gateway .
- Classify What kind of file is this, and is it allowed into an agent path at all?
- Extract Pull the fields the downstream action needs. Leave the rest. Extraction is not a dump of the whole document into context.
- Validate Check types, required fields, and low-confidence values before anything is written to a system of record.
- Integrate Hand the validated payload to the governed tool, not to a private script that bypasses the gateway.
- Review A named person sees the low-confidence fields. Files become tools only after that review can happen.
Five verbs
- 1. Classify. What kind of file is this, and is it allowed into an agent path at all?
- 2. Extract. Pull the fields the downstream action needs. Leave the rest. Extraction is not a dump of the whole document into context.
- 3. Validate. Check types, required fields, and low-confidence values before anything is written to a system of record.
- 4. Integrate. Hand the validated payload to the governed tool, not to a private script that bypasses the gateway.
- 5. Review. A named person sees the low-confidence fields. Files become tools only after that review can happen.
Three people on the line
- The person who configures the action Names the document type, the fields, and the confidence bar. They own the action definition, not the live exception.
- The person who wires it Puts the action behind the gateway and the identity the agent will use. Wiring is integration work, not a prompt edit.
- The person who reviews low-confidence fields The human on the line when extraction is unsure. Without this name, the pipeline is automation theater.
